Week 10

Your Personal Digital Strategy is due today!

Visualization and Timelines

For the first part of class, we will discuss methods of data visualization (other than maps) and will experiment with timeline creation software.

Read Graham, Shawn, Ian Milligan, and Scott Weingart. “Principles of Information Visualization.” In The Historian’s Macroscope: Big Digital History, Pre-Draft. London: Imperial College Press, 2015.

Digitization, Copyright, and Ethics

For the second part of class, we discuss copyright and the ethics of digital work in further detail. There is much more to these issues than we can cover in a single class, but this session will give you the tools you need to discern important issues of accessibility and accreditation.
